Governor Martin O’Malley is expected to sign legislation on March 1, 2012, approving
same-sex marriage. However, the law won’t become effective unless voters pass
a referendum on the ballot this November.
Maryland recognizes same-sex marriages which were performed in states in
which same-sex marriage is legal.
