Keeping consistent with his proclamation of last year, President Barack Obama has once again proclaimed June “Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Pride Month.
President Obama noted that his administration has been making efforts to raise awareness of the HIV/AIDS virus within the gay community, as June marks the 30th anniversary of the appearance of the HIV/AIDS epidemic. The President stated that his administration created the first comprehensive National HIV/AIDS Strategy for the United States .
President Obama went on to advise that his administration has passed the repeal of the “don’t ask, don’t tell” legislation and has also provided the gay community more access to federal housing programs.
